Fact! Women Are The Safest Drivers – Pink Car Leasing Study Confirms

PRESS RELEASE - 17TH OCTOBER 2022

The age-old debate whether men or women are safer drivers has finally been settled thanks to an in-depth survey from Pink Car Leasing.

The car leasing expert collected information from just under 280,000 vehicle inspections, revealed females were far more likely to check their vehicles for defects, and thus less likely to have an accident.

Whilst 71 per cent of males aged between 28 and 60 were guilty of driving either a car of van with faults, the figure for females 29 per cent. There was also a direct correlation between failures and driver behaviour, and those that had failed were more likely to have an accident.

More than 60 per cent of those drivers who failed were in the top ten per cent of those within their business with higher than average accident levels.

Out of those surveyed, 102,000 checks were carried out on drivers classing themselves as engineers, 39,000 as sales representatives, 87,000 as operations, 29,000 managers, 11,000 senior managers and 1,200 as directors.

Pink Car Leasing Director Caroline Hill said: “Collecting data from a massive 280,000 vehicle inspections makes it the largest survey of its kind ever undertaken.

“This has given us a unique insight into the driving habits of tens of thousands of people driving a leased car or van.

“Compared to their male counterparts, females are far more likely to check their vehicles regularly to ensure they are in a roadworthy and legal condition.

“They had far less failures, and with the link between failures and accidents, this is conclusive proof that women are the safer drivers.”
